Which air conditioner cover is the best fit for you?

When it gets really hot in the summer, buying an air conditioner for your home was a smart move to keep things cool. However, for many people, the outdoor unit of an air conditioner can be an eyesore. A great solution to hide such an unsightly unit is an air conditioner cover. More and more people are choosing to invest in a cover, not just because it offers a modern and luxurious appearance, but also because it protects the outdoor unit from harsh weather conditions like rain, hail, storms, and snow. Once you've decided to purchase a cover, the next question is: ‘Which air conditioner cover is the best fit for my AC and my home?’ We're here to help answer that!

Why an Air Conditioner Cover?

As mentioned, an air conditioner cover protects against various weather conditions. For example, during wet weather, such as rain, much less water reaches the outdoor unit. Sunlight also has less impact on the outdoor unit. Additionally, the air conditioner remains easily accessible for maintenance or repairs. Finally, one major benefit is that the cover offers good protection for animals and children. The outdoor unit has a moving fan inside, where children could stick their fingers. Fortunately, with the cover, this is no longer possible.

Material of the Cover

The advantage of aluminum covers is that they are completely maintenance-free and only need to be installed once. The aluminum covers are available in whice, black and gray.

Location of the Cover

It’s also important to consider where you want to place the cover, which naturally depends on the location of the outdoor unit. The outdoor unit might be on a flat roof, mounted to the wall, or standing on the ground. Each location requires specific parts for the cover. For example, if your cover is on a flat roof, you’ll need an open back. A back cover can be purchased separately. If the cover is mounted on the wall, you can add a bottom plate to close off the underside. If your cover is placed on the ground, you might choose to buy mounting feet so that the bottom is raised off the ground.

Size of the Cover

It's good to know that Evolar’s covers are suitable for every type and model of air conditioner. However, when selecting an air conditioner cover, it's essential to choose the correct size. The interior dimensions are especially important, and they are always listed with the product. Evolar’s covers are available in three mini-split sizes and two central sizes.
